Welcome Letter
About Us   >   Welcome Letter

Hello!

I am honored to welcome you to Minnesota State University, Mankato and St. Thomas More Catholic Newman Center. College is full of new people and experiences, and we hope that your time at MSU and our Catholic Newman Center will be one of growth in knowledge and faith.

A common question is, “How do I get involved at Newman?” There is no one answer to this question because there are so many different activities in a community as large and active as ours. But, here are a few suggestions I would have for new students:

Browse our website and read about the many different organizations and events we have. Attend our Fall Kick-Off and get free food, fun and information about all of the different groups at St. Thomas More Catholic Newman Center. Fall Kick-off is at the beginning of each Fall Semester.

Don’t forget the Sacraments! Come worship with us on Sunday (or any other day) and take advantage of Reconciliation almost every day of the week!

St. Thomas More Catholic Newman Center sponsors many different organizations and programs that allow students to learn about their faith, minister to the local community, attend retreats, serve others through charitable work, hone leadership skills, and much more.

We also have opportunities for Eucharistic adoration, sacramental preparation, opportunities to help with liturgy and music and other forms of Catholic devotions and prayers.

I hope you’ll consider St. Thomas More Catholic Newman Center your “home away from home,” where you can worship God, learn more about your Catholic faith and enjoy many fun social activities.

I would love for you to stop by and introduce yourself to me or any one of our campus ministry staff. We look forward to meeting you!

God is good!

Fr. Tim Biren
